This year’s awards received over 300 entries from over 250 fintechs across 19 categories, with judges shortlisting 156 finalists. That’s 30 percent more than last year.
For the first time this year, FinTech Australia announced the new Positive Impact award, which celebrates social impact in fintech. The Positive Impact Award will consider the social, environmental, and economic impact of fintech companies. They introduced the new award to honour work on this within the sector.
The Finnies are the biggest Fintech awards in Australia and we are thrilled to announce that Wych has been selected as a finalist for the Positive Impact Award at this year's Finnies. This recognition highlights our commitment to addressing socio-economic challenges and making a positive impact on people, customers, the community, and the environment.
Our entry into the awards showcases our collaboration with The Salvation Army in NZ, and how our open banking and payment technology has enabled safer and more efficient donations during the COVID-19 pandemic.
With in-person, bucket-shake charity appeals no longer possible, The Sallies team faced a significant challenge in continuing their fundraising efforts. Wych developed a QR code-based donation option, which made it easy for people to donate securely and support The Salvation Army's vital work.
This solution not only enabled safer donations but also allowed for tracking and efficient allocation of fundraising efforts. Through our innovative open banking technology, we were able to make a positive impact on The Salvation Army's fundraising efforts during a challenging time.
Being a finalist for the Positive Impact Award is an honor and a testament to our commitment to making a difference. We will continue to leverage our open banking technology to support causes that make a positive impact on society.
